Excitement is just around the corner! The 143rd Maryland State Fair, open for three big weekends this summer. The Maryland State Fair is a fun and educational destination sure to captivate visitors of all ages. The Maryland State Fair is complete with daily home arts, farm and garden, livestock and horse competitions and exhibits, rides, games, live concerts and entertainment, live Thoroughbred horse racing, fair treats and farm fresh foods, the U-Learn Agriculture Education Zone, The Birthing Center, a museum, and more. Join us for a unique fishing event that celebrates restored oyster reefs and the difference they make for healthy, diverse populations of Chesapeake Bay reef fish, sponsored by Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Chesapeake Oyster Alliance, and Coastal Conservation Association Maryland. The Rod & Reef Slam fishing tournament is unlike any other. You don't just win by catching the biggest fish. To celebrate the vast biodiversity oyster reefs support, prizes are instead awarded for how many different species you catch (and release), including invasives. Anglers of all skill levels fish on a multitude of restored reef locations throughout Maryland's portion of the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and record their catches in the tournament app.
Navy Football Home Game vs Temple

American Legion Riders Project 226

On September 7th, 2024, the ALR chapter is hosting an all-day event to bring attention to the tragedy of veteran suicide. "ALR Project 226" is an initiative to raise $50,000 to support the critical cause. This will be an unforgettable experience, featuring celebrity guests, family activities, delicious food, and live music throughout the day. The goal is not only to raise funds but also to raise awareness and provide a platform for open discussions about veteran mental health.
The 14th Wendi Winters Memorial Blood Drive

Since the horrific Capital Gazette shooting on June 28, 2018, there have been thirteen blood drives in memory of American Red Cross blood drive volunteer and journalist, Wendi Winters. Wendi tragically lost her life, alongside four others, in the workplace shooting. This blood drive is anticipated to collect around 200 pints of blood to help ensure those in the hospital due to an emergency, difficult childbirth or complicated surgery receive the blood products they need to survive.

Without farms, there would be no beer so we're sending well wishes to our farms and farmers on Sunday, September 8th from 11am-3pm at the Queen Anne's County 4-H Park in Centerville. A $5 admission will give residents a chance to shake the hands that produce our agriculture, as well as enjoy food & festivities including the Blessing of the Combines. In addition to local food trucks and beer from all five of QAC's breweries, we'll have local vendors, music and with any luck, some four-legged friends from the farm. Shore Party Rentals will also host an inflatable zone for the kids for an additional cost.

The 17th annual Chesapeake Film Festival (“CFF”) comes to Chestertown, MD, on Sept. 12 with an engaging and timely lineup of environmental short films. The mini festival in Chestertown heralds the grand, three-day celebration of independent filmmaking at CFF 2024 in Easton September 27-29. The theme of the Chestertown Festival, Fragile Rivers/Fertile Land, pays homage to the abundant waterways and farmland that grace the Mid-Atlantic region. Six films have been carefully selected to show how residents, who have threatened these environmental treasures in the past, are now working to restore our rivers and minimize agricultural runoff.

Hospice Cup is America’s largest charity regatta in numbers and dollars, and began in 1981 as an informal race among a small group of people interested in sailing and hospice care. Since then, the race has evolved into Hospice Cup, Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for and awareness of hospice care in our region. Based out of Annapolis, MD, they host an annual sailing regatta each September to raise funds and awareness of participating local non-profit hospices. This year Hospice Cup celebrates 43 years of raising sails, funds, and awareness for hospice care. Participating hospices use funds raised through Hospice Cup to continue to offer quality end-of-life care to patients, their families, and friends.

The Maryland Seafood Festival hosts loads of seafood vendors, local shopping and vendor options, a fantastic beverage selection with lots of local craft beer and kids activities. The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the largest event to raise funds and awareness for the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. It's held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, and we are excited to get the Easton community involved in this amazing event.

Annapolis Run for The Light House

The 15th annual Annapolis Run for The Light House provides scenic half-marathon and 5K routes along the trails of Quiet Waters Park and through the beautiful Chesapeake Bay-front community of Hillsmere Shores. This race event is unlike any other in the greater Annapolis area! All proceeds from the Run for The Light House will benefit The Light House in Annapolis, a well-known public charity working to end the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

Paddling any part of the Chesapeake Bay waters is a thrilling experience and launching from Sandy Point State Park is no different. With a beautiful sandy beach on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, you are provided with expansive views overlooking the iconic Bay Bridge. This race will bring together all levels of paddlers to share in a day of camaraderie and fellowship. Each race will present a different experience and challenge, the bay’s shifting conditions add to the fun as racers can experience anything from flat water glides to gusty winds and unpredictable swell and tides from the wind and current.
