FASO Brats, Beer, Blues, and Bourbon

To kick off the season, FASO crosses the border from France to Bavaria. The Oktoberfest in Munich is a two-week festival from September to the first Sunday in October. The first Oktoberfest was on October 12, 1810 to celebrate the marriage of crown prince Ludwig of Bavaria. It lasted for 5 days and grew in length with passing time. The starting dates were eventually moved to September because with longer days and warmer weather, revelers could comfortably stay out longer in the festival grounds. This year, the 189th Munich festival will be from September 21 to October 6.

Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra's Violin Virtuoso

The Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 27th season as the Eastern Shore’s only professional symphony orchestra with its season opening concert, “Violin Virtuoso,” on Thursday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of God in Easton. This concert is one of 25 Masterworks full orchestra concerts and eight Ensemble concerts being offered between September and May.

Friends of Blackwater Wild Goose Chase Women's Bicycle Ride
September 28th through 29th; Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Cambridge
Women bicyclists from all over the Mid-Atlantic and beyond converge on Dorchester County to ride in the Wild Goose Chase Women's Bicycle Ride. Cyclists can ride along low-traffic scenic county roads in and around Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (NWR). Since women's bicycling pioneer Georgena Terry created the event in 2008, the Wild Goose Chase has raised over $190,000 for the Friends of Blackwater, which has used the funds to support numerous Refuge projects. Pumpkin Patch for the Light House

An Annapolis tradition of community coming together! Each October, the Friends of the Light House teams up with volunteers from different local groups and churches to host a Pumpkin Patch at St. Martin’s on Spa Road. Find your fresh Eastern Shore pumpkin through October 27th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, all to benefit the Annapolis Light House, a homeless prevention and support center. Anne Arundel County Literacy Council Annual Book Fair

The Anne Arundel County Literacy Council (AACLC) will host its 4th-annual fundraiser book fair outside Discoveries: The Library at the Mall at the Crate & Barrel Court in Annapolis Mall. The fair will feature 100s of gently used books, including children’s books, cookbooks, bestsellers, romance novels, memoirs, mysteries, thrillers, historical fiction, and much more. Books will be priced at $2 for hardbacks and $1 for paperbacks. Shoppers can fill a special edition Literacy Council tote bag with books for $20. PayPal, Venmo, credit cards, checks, and cash will be accepted. Also at the book fair — gift basket raffles and more. Proceeds from the book fair will support the Council’s free adult tutoring programs in Anne Arundel County.

CBMM will host the Mid-Atlantic Small Craft Festival XLI on Friday-Sunday, Oct. 4-6, welcoming one of the nation’s largest gatherings of small boat enthusiasts and unique watercraft back to its waterfront campus. Hundreds of amateur and professional boatbuilders and enthusiasts will come from all over the region to display their one-of-a-kind kayaks, canoes, and other traditional small craft at the 41th edition of the annual festival, which runs 10am–5pm all three days.

2024 Lifeline 100: Scenic Rivers' Ride for Land & Water

Our Porch Party is a community event with live music and food trucks. True Colors: Mental Health Awareness Art Show
