100 Years of Women Voting: 2020 Symposium

The U.S. Capitol Historical Society invites you to attend its 2020 Annual Symposium, 100 Years of Women Voting. Over six weekly sessions, distinguished speakers will discuss the impact of women in American government and public life over the last century. The entire symposium will be conducted via virtual sessions. All six weekly presentations will be free and open to the public; registration is required. At Colonial Cocktails, you’ll get to make and enjoy two historical drinks and learn about colonial tavern culture. In this session, you’ll whip up a Syllabub, a frothy cream dream with hard cider. Alexander Hamilton has always been known as a central player in America’s early history, but the smash Broadway musical Hamilton has focused new attention on the life and career of this fascinating individual. This multimedia presentation draws on both Hamilton’s biography and his depiction on stage to examine his accomplishments, discuss his relationship with Aaron Burr, and reflect on the accuracy of the musical. It includes recordings from the musical's soundtrack and interviews with its creators. Victoria Price is an author and inspirational speaker who will share stories of growing up as Vincent Price’s daughter, as well as his life as a father, chef, and renowned Hollywood actor.
