On Thanksgiving morning, the YMCA will host its Turkey Trot Charity 5K at the Greater Annapolis Y in Arnold. Join thousands as they run, walk, jog, and stroll the 3.1-mile course at this annual Thanksgiving Day tradition. Funds raised help children living in poverty throughout Central Maryland gain access to Y programs.

Join Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Superintendent Patricia Delgado for a fun 5K run along our beautiful, scenic trails of the Glendening Nature Preserve. The trail is all off road with some single-track areas. All proceeds will go to the Friends of Jug Bay to fund the purchase of kayaks for outdoor education programming along the Patuxent River.

Grand Illumination: Lighting the Holiday Season In Annapolis

The Downtown Annapolis Partnership joins the Annapolis Jaycees as they ring in the holiday season in downtown Annapolis. The Grand Illumination and annual tree lighting takes place near the Market House every year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. This year's celebration begins at 5:30 pm with dancing and carols by local school groups and ends at 7:00 pm. Santa arrives to help light the tree around 6:30 pm and help get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Broadway heavy hitters, Alan Menken (Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Disney's The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island), breathe fantastic new life into the classic tale! 2nd Star Productions will be presenting this wonderful holiday musical at the Bowie Playhouse at Whitemarsh Park. Performances will be as follows: Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 3 pm, with the closing performance Saturday December 14th at 3 pm.

Not only is Santa coming to town, but Festival of Trees is coming to town for the 30th year in a row, and it will welcome its one-millionth visitor! From Friday, November 29 to Sunday, December 1, the elves from the Kennedy Krieger Institute will transform the Maryland State Fairgrounds into a winter wonderland complete with decorated trees, a gingerbread town, shopping, holiday activities and entertainment for children of all ages.
