Fretterd Community Center, Denton March 14, 7:30 a.m. Start your salute to the Irish and your spring fitness conditioning on this certified fast and scenic course through Denton Saturday, March 14th at the St. Paddy’s Day 5K. Finish line production by Seashore Striders. On-site registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Race starts at 9:00 a.m. at the Fretterd Community Center in Denton. Cost is $12 for the Fun Run, $27 for 5K, $37 for Leashed Lucky Dog entries through March 6. Late registrations, after March 6, add $5. You can register online at seashorestriders.com. The Lil’ Leprechaun Dash is a thrilling 300-foot chase exclusively for youngsters under the age of 5 from the Denton Child Development Center to the finish line and cheering crowds. Eagle Festival – Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Cambridge March 14, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is hosting its 19th Annual Eagle Festival on Saturday, March 14, from 9am to 4pm. All programs and activities will take place at and around the Blackwater Visitor Center. The Eagle Festival celebrates birds of prey with educational programs that allow the visitor an up-close view of this unique class of birds, as well as many activities for children, from archery to wildlife crafts. Blackwater’s experienced volunteers and staff will be leading several guided tours throughout the day. A map of eagle “hot spots” will also be available for folks who wish to explore the area on their own. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase throughout the day.

Sante: A Taste of Baltimore – American Visionary Art Museum, Baltimore March 12, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. This business casual celebration will feature tastings from 20+ of Baltimore’s best restaurants, caterers and chefs, paired with enticing beverages. Adding to the fun will be celebrity judges, the People’s Choice competition, live entertainment and a silent auction featuring sports memorabilia, dining, entertainment, local art, spa, health and fitness and vacation packages. Guests also can bid on one-of-a-kind experiences and donate to our Mission Moments at the event. Wikipedia Edit-a-thon: Women Artists of Latin America – National Museum of Women in the Arts, D.C. March 14, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. NMWA hosts its 7th annual Art+Feminism edit-a-thon, which aims to improve Wikipedia entries related to notable women artists and art world figures. This year’s event will focus on women artists of Latin America. Held in collaboration with Wikipedia Edit-a-thons across the city at the libraries of the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Hirshhorn Museum, NMWA’s edit-a-thon also commemorates the adoption of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920, which granted women the right to vote. This event is part of a global initiative to help improve Wikipedia’s gender imbalance. In 2019, more than 3,800 Art+Feminism participants created or improved 21,000 Wikipedia pages. Free. No reservations required. No experience necessary; bring a laptop, motivation to combat gender bias and a belief in equal access to quality resources. People of all gender identities and expressions are invited.
