We asked the recent bride to reflect on her wedding day, and here's what she had to say:r
Troy and I were married at Bridges on Kent Narrows on Sunday, July 8, 2012, after getting engaged on February 29, 2012. We had been dating for a little more than 3 years. I lived in Wilmington, Delaware, and Troy lives here on Kent Island. Bridges quickly became our favorite place to go after it opened a couple of years ago, and I told him before we even became officially engaged that I wanted to be married there.

We didn't want any of the traditional wedding stuff, i.e., bridesmaids, groomsmen, first dance, bouquet toss, etc. Our vision was to invite our closest family members and select friends to a party celebrating our becoming husband and wife, in an intimate, almost "homey" setting. We couldn't have picked a better venue. I am so thankful to Angelique and the staff at Bridges for making our day so perfect. Although we wanted a very low-key day, there were still some aspects that I didn't want omitted, like flowers, a wedding cake and a photographer to capture it al,l as Brittany did so beautifully.

My 3 daughters, ages 26, 25, and 13 walked me down the isle and Troy's 2 daughters, ages 16 and 18, presented the rings. In lieu of matching bridesmaids dresses, I asked the girls to all wear white dresses of their choice. I presented them all with turquoise necklaces as gifts.

As for the dress, I did NOT want to go into a Bridal Salon, so I got busy shopping online. I ordered and returned at least 7 dresses, before finally choosing the very first one I'd found. Same thing with the shoes. My dress was from KateSpade.com as well as my purse in turquoise. The shoes were by L.K. Bennett in aqua which I found at BHLDN.com. I wore a turquoise bracelet that my daughters had given me for Mother's Day in May. Troy's suit was from Macy's.

Our flowers were done by Theresa Kalvaitis of "Petal 'N Pallet." She designed beautiful centerpieces and just enough floral decor to accentuate the already beautiful setting.

We were married on the water, under a beautiful, sunny sky at around noon. Troy's family drove up from South Carolina and my family came from Delaware to be with us for the day. It was extremely HOT, but the breeze during the ceremony helped a bit.

The patio at Bridges was set up with stations for our 50 guests, featuring crudite; fresh fruit & cheese display; carved prime rib au jus; shrimp spring rolls; crab summer rolls; cajun spiced mahi mahi; and stuffed chicken breast with pasta.

Although I was extremely nervous in the days leading up to the wedding about the weather, it turned out to be a more beautiful day than I could have imagined. I can't thank all of the people mentioned above enough for their professionalism.
