We're Obsessed with This Canoeing + Kinder Farm Engagement Shoot

Annapolis' claim to the sailing capital of the world title may be disputed by some, but boats are still ubiquitous in these parts, meaning engagement shoots à la Jack and Rose on a pre-sinking Titanic are not the most original theme we've ever seen. But beautiful people aboard a canoe?? We are crushing hardcore. It's the perfect setup: small vessel, functional prop (oar), close quarters that mandate natural snuggling. Give us more! Does it help that Sarah and Ted are the most adorable couple? Absolutely, duh. But seriously, if a bunch more people copied them, we wouldn't be upset. 

Sarah met Ted at a mutual friend's birthday party, aboard a boat during a Severn River raft up in 2013. "My first impression of Ted was how handsome and smooth he was trying to get my number," she says. A year later, the pair reconnected and had their first date at the Melting Pot. Sarah knew she wanted to marry Ted after he survived an 8-hour road trip to New York with her family. "We were visiting my mom's relatives and he was just so gracious, caring, and fit right in," she explains. "Everyone loved him!"

Ted proposed on November 16, 2018. Before leaving for work, he told Sarah to get dressed up  so they could "hit the town later." When he got home, the couple headed to Kinder Farm Park, a favorite place of theirs to stroll and ride bikes. They were on a wildflower trail, completely alone, when Ted got down on one knee. "He had the ring on a dog collar, and, for a minute, I thought maybe a dog was going to pop out of the woods somewhere!" Sarah says. Although a pup was not part of the proposal scheme, Ted promised they would begin their search for family member #3.

For their engagement shoot by Victoria Selman, the pair split their time between Kinder Farm and Ted's parents' house, near the source of the Severn River. "We chose the canoe ride because we love being out on the water and love a good adventure," Sarah says.
