The Couple. Even though Kosha and Sheel knew of each other in college, it wasn’t until after school was over that they really got to know each other. Over the course of a few chance interactions while with mutual friends, the two began to realize there was more between them than just a friendship.
The Proposal. Kosha was blindfolded and escorted to “the mall” one afternoon by her best friend. However, the mall was really Brookside Gardens where she embarked upon a scavenger hunt that Sheel had put together for her. It ended with him standing inside of the gazebo at the center of the gardens proposing to her.
The Venue. Kosha and Sheel fell in love with the view of the Chesapeake Bay that the Hyatt Regency had to offer. They also felt safe knowing that there was an indoor reception hall that would work out in case of rain. “Also,” shares Kosha, “We wanted to consider our guests, a lot of whom have children and were traveling far. The venue had many options for our guests, including pools, golf course, mini golf for the kids, game room, and marina.”
The First Look. Sheel was held up in a tower above the hotel overlooking the water called the Raven’s Tower. Kosha joined him in the tower, tapping him on the shoulder. “When he turned, all the nerves from the wedding day disappeared,” recalls Kosha.
The Barat. The barat is the groom’s entrance. This is usually done with an entry on horses in the United States. Family and friends of the groom will dance around him as he enters. Instead, Sheel came on a helicopter.
The Ceremony. Sheel remembers one of their favorite memories from the ceremony. “Our Hindu wedding ceremony was quite long and full of rich rituals. There is a part in the beginning when we greet each other with garlands. Kosha garlanded me first. When I tried to garland Kosha, her uncles and others picked her up to make me work for it. It was hilarious.”
Shosha Games. Kosha and Sheel wanted to make sure that there was plenty to keep young guests and non-drinking guests entertained during the cocktail hour. They set up “Shosha” (Sheel and Kosha) games on the outside patio that included corn hole, water pong, and a giant Jenga.
The Best Decision. Anticipating a warm day, Kosha and Sheel bought parasols for ceremony décor and had their wedding program turned into a fan.
The Happily Ever After. Foodies, Kosha and Sheel love cooking together and trying new dishes. They spend a lot of time entertaining friends and family. In the near future, they hope to travel a oad and expand their foodie adventures.
