The Beginning
On a lacrosse field, years after their first meeting, Lindsey and Spencer ran into one another. After letting Spencer know he looked great (as did his two boys), he introduced his boys to her by saying, “Do you remember her? I hope you do because I am going to marry her one day.” Surprised at the time, Lindsey is happy that it came true!
The Proposal
“We were at our favorite restaurant having a dinner as normal,” Lindsey shares. “But we were talking about our grandparents who had passed on prior to us meeting and reminiscing on their mannerisms and memories. I, of course, teared up thinking of my Grandpa and Spencer got a little nervous.” Lindsey went to the powder room to make sure she didn’t have mascara running down her face and when she returned Spencer was waiting and ready to propose. “Spencer stood like the gentleman he is, but instead of sitting back down he got down on one knee!” Afterwards, they went to Carrol’s Creek where he had planned for their friends and family to be there to cele ate.
The Sailboats
“Holy origami!” Lindsey’s favorite part of planning was making the stationary that went throughout their wedding. “Our wedding theme was Nautical Chic,” Lindsey explains. “We incorporated lots of navy blue and white, origami sailboats, nautical knots, crab pots, and anchors. It was all very Annapolis!”
The Venue
“We did look around at other venues and could not find a place right on the water willing to accommodate the number of people we had as well as both indoor and outdoor accommodations,” Lindsey recalls of their venue hunt. “For us, there was no question or other consideration as Carrol’s Creek has such a special place in our hearts. When my parents first moved to Annapolis, that was the first place they went for dinner, we took my Grandpa there when he came out the first time, Spencer and I had our first date there and my sister is the banquet coordinator and manager so she was extremely helpful in planning.”
The Family Wedding
Spencer’s two boys were an integral part of the wedding ceremony for the couple. Each boy gave Lindsey a ring to symbolize their dedication to each other and Lindsey shared with them during the ceremony that “they didn’t grow under my heart, they grew in it.”
Their Best Advice
Lindsey was once told to stop and take a moment to look around at everyone who is at the wedding so that you can remember them on your wedding day. “I can still envision each person looking at us and smiling,” she recalls. “Someone gave me this advice to stop and look around and I can’t thank them enough. I would encourage any ide and groom to do the same thing. There is so much hustle and bustle leading up this special day and the day will fly by, so take that moment at the alter to stop and look around!”
