Maybe you’ve dreamed of the flowers you will be holding on your wedding day since you were a little girl. Or, perhaps, it hasn’t been at the top of the priority list as far as planning goes and so it’s yet to be determined. Whatever the case, it’s wise to choose a bouquet that pairs well with your wedding gown. Taking a cue from a few of the most recent bridal trends, we’re pairing some hot, fresh off the runway gowns with show-stopping bouquets created by Annapolis florist/designer Sarah Campbell.
A bride who isn’t afraid of the wow factor, anything goes with your bouquet. A high drama ensemble works best when the elements of the dress and the bouquet dance together in unison. Allow your florist to think outside of tradition bringing in exotic unexpected flowers such as queen protea.
Pay attention to scale. Sleek, modern gowns tend to demand tight, structured bouquets with little fuss. Your gown may get lost behind a bouquet that feels too wild or undone. A compact cluster of diamond white callas is perfect for this style.
Cascading blooms filled with airy spaces to breathe will keep your bouquet from overpowering your relaxed wedding gown. Include a variety of textures in your flowers ranging from astilbe, to ranunculus to highlight the delicate detail represented in gown.
The classic bride isn’t going to want to have her choices dictated by the current trends. A bouquet for this style is timeless and will often include those classic wedding blooms such as the sought after peony and English garden rose.
Gowns with embellishments or statement features need to stand out. A bouquet for this style should have a soft feminine feel with lush petals and sweet scented blooms designed in a rounded composed form in order to enhance the gowns statement.
Rustic bridal looks give you the freedom to feel whimsical and let loose. Flowers for this style are more relaxed and have that “plucked from the garden” feel. You can get creative with this look by adding unexpected elements such as ornamental kale and amaranthus.
