Kagan Law Group provides highly skilled legal services to individuals and businesses in Anne Arundel County, the Eastern Shore, and throughout Maryland. The firm’s focus is business, employment, and civil litigation. The firm handles all aspects of business and employment transactional work, including business formation documents, buy-sell agreements, and the drafting and negotiation of employment, non-compete, and severance agreements. The firm also represents individuals and businesses in complex civil litigation in the state and federal courts of Maryland and D.C., at both the trial and appellate levels. The litigation includes contract and business disputes, employment matters, real estate and administrative appeals, and each of fiduciary duty cases involving estates and trust matters.
Jonathan Kagan, the founder and managing partner of the firm, has been in private practice in Anne Arundel County for more than 22 years as a trial attorney. Mr. Kagan is currently the Chair of the Litigation Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and a past president of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association. Mr. Kagan is consistently recognized by his peers in Maryland Super Lawyers as an outstanding business and employment litigator, as well as a Leading Lawyer in What's Up? Annapolis magazine in the areas of litigation, employment law, and business law. Mr. Kagan currently serves on the Ethics Commission for Anne Arundel County.
Michael Marinello, is a partner of the firm practicing in the areas of business, commercial, and employment litigation and other complex civil litigation, as well as business transactions, government contracts, and military/veteran matters. Mr. Marinello has repeatedly earned recognition as a Rising Star in Maryland Super Lawyers for business litigation and as a Leading Lawyer in What's Up? Annapolis magazine for military law. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Mr. Marinello served with the Navy for more than 13 years, including seven years as an attorney with Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps before entering private practice. He continues to serve in the Naval Reserves.
Meagan Cooper practices in the areas of business, commercial, and employment litigation and transactions. A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law where she served as an Associate Editor of the Maryland Law Review, Ms. Cooper clerked for The Honorable Clayton Greene, Jr. in the Court of Appeals of Maryland prior to joining the firm.
Anna Barefoot joined the firm in 2015 and practices in the areas of business and employment law and general civil litigation. Ms. Barefoot obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her J.D. from Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in Raleigh, N.C.
