× St. Martin’s Lutheran School of Annapolis
Years teaching at St. Martin’s Lutheran: 10
Currently teaching: 6th–8th English, Creative Writing, Study Skills
Proudest teaching moment: “When a student comes up to me and says, ‘I love you.’ It is then that I realize that I have reached him/her beyond the classroom.”
Teaching philosophy: “Ten years ago, my grandfather, a former principal and professor, told me a simple teaching philosophy: be fair, be firm, be friendly, (and I have added one more), be fun! Don’t separate student from teacher—talk to them, not at them—respect their ideas—let them know that although they are young, they have the power to set an example for others.”
Toughest challenge facing educators: “The toughest challenge facing educators is wearing many hats in order to meet the needs of everyone. All students are capable of success, and I walk in with that attitude each and every day.”
