Closing their fall tour with a two night jaunt at Baltimore’s Rams Head Live November 25th and 26th, electro rockers Lotus packed in a variety of pulsating, jazzy jams over tightly constructed beats. Though they managed to work in plenty of new material over the weekend, they were sure to include live staples that have long drawn fans to their live shows. Friday’s first set would set the bar high for the weekend, going unmatched in enthusiasm until Saturday’s show included an upbeat ending of its initial set with a wild version of the frenetic cut “Wax”, and a flawlessly executed second set.r
Highlights of Friday's impressive first set included a noteworthy version of the soaring, spacey “Spiritualize”, the centerpiece of the seminal 2004 album Nomad, and a cool, driving rendition of “Behind Midwestern Storefronts”. The group used the drawn out jam in “Spiritualize” to ease a raucous and playful first set to a fitting, tempered conclusion. With both shows approaching a sell out crowd, the band's decision to tack these date on to end their fall tour in Baltimore appeared justified.

Lotus has always been sure to include Baltimore in their east coast tour dates, and drew considerable crowds in light of the conflicting scheduling of Steez Promo's Washington D.C. Fall Massive event at R.F.K. Stadium (featuring a host of popular live DJs and drawing from an extremely similar fanbase). All told, the two night run found the band firing on all cylinders and treating fans to both well executed versions of established songs and exciting glimpses at new material.
