It's star studded with guest musicians that include the likes of Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels, The Oak Ridge Boys—just to name drop a few.
This disc is full of classics, which include” Folsom Prison Blues”, “The Pain of Loving You”, and “Mr. Bojangles.” One of my favorites on the CD is the “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” featuring the deep earthy voice of Charlie Daniels. Another favorite, “Cracker Barrel Swing” ings forth the marvelous complexities of the many tones and patterns of strings playing off each other in intriguing harmony and rhythm. The album takes many favorite country tunes and gives them new life and vitality, which is fitting when learning that one of The Grascal's goals is to help raise monies for St. Jude's children's hospital. The song “I am Strong” performed twice on the CD was written my Grascal's member Jamie Johnson and his wife Susanne Mumpower-Johnson and friend, Jenee Fleenor. The final soundtrack on the tape not only includes all of the members of the cele ity album guests, but the voice of a three-year old cancer patient as well. A portion of the funds raised by the song will be donated to St. Judes. While the disc is being sold exclusively at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, it can also be purchased online or you can also go and see The Grascals perform in person.
This Friday night, January 2lst, The Grascals will be performing at the Historic Avalon Theatre in Easton. For ticket information go to avalontheatre.com
