The Navy Midshipmen returned to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium one week after a rainy, yet memorable come-from-behind victory against conference rival Memphis.
With an inferior opponent in Lehigh looming, the question for the Midshipmen was if a letdown would ensue or if they would cruise to victory.
After a 75-yard touchdown run by Mountain Hawks running back Rashawn Allen in the middle of the first quarter tied the game at seven apiece, an upset appeared to be on the table.
The Midshipmen quickly assuaged all fears by dominating on all fronts and taking a commanding 48-7 lead into the fourth quarter. A Navy field goal and two inconsequential Lehigh touchdowns in the fourth quarter ought the final tally to 51-21.
The 629 yards accumulated by Navy's offense are the 10th most in program history and the most since putting up 680 against North Texas in 2007.
Navy quarterback Malcolm Perry led the team with 223 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.
The Midshipmen's 51 points are the most scored since beating SMU, 75-44, in November 2016.
Navy (2-1 overall, 1-0 American Conference) will travel to take on SMU and Air Force on September 22 and October 6, respectively. They return home to face Temple on Saturday, October 13 at 3:30 p.m. That game will be oadcast on CBS Sports Network.
