The Navy Midshipmen took on their second Top 10 opponent of the season when they faced off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at FedExField on Friday night.
After trailing 28-7 in the second quarter, Navy went on to take a 31-28 lead in the third quarter. Down 42-31, the Midshipmen rallied with less than five minutes with a 12-yard passing touchdown from Keenan Reynolds to Chris Swain. After converting for two points, Navy only trailed Notre Dame 42-39 before the Fighting Irish unleashed the final blow with 1:27 left in the game.
Notre Dame's Everett Golson was spectacular, scoring six total touchdowns. He completed 18 of 25 passes for 315 yards, three touchdowns and one interception and ran for 48 yards and three touchdowns.
Despite producing at least 430 yards of total offense for the third straight week, Navy's defense was not equipped to handle Golson at his best.
The Mids will take a week off before facing Georgia Southern in their home finale on November 15th at 3:30 p.m.
