It’s that time of year again. One of the most popular and highly anticipated events returns to Annapolis this weekend. That’s right: The United States Sailboat Show kicks off on Thursday at City Dock and runs through Monday, October 13. And with the addition of new features, the 45th internationally acclaimed sailboat show promises to be better than ever. br
brWhat can you expect at this year’s show? Glad you asked. Here are just a few of the highlights:

brbrHeld every October, the United States Sailboat Show is the largest and oldest in-water sailboat show in the world.

brShow times are Thursday – VIP Preview Day, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m., and Monday, 10 a.m.-5p.m.
brbrGeneral admission is $18. Admission for children is $5; children 6 and under are admitted free. Two-day general admission is $31. Or take advantage of special VIP admission prices. VIP Preview Day admission is $35, and admission for VIP Preview plus an additional day is $48.

*Fun Facts: Early Sailboats
brbrMesopotamians started using sailboats around five thousand years ago for travel and trade.
brbrThe sailboats were primitive in design. The sails were square in shape and made of cloth, and the hull was made of wood.

brbrA show as spectacular as the United States Sailboat Show definitely calls for a celebration. So don’t miss the Boat Show Bash at the Eastport Yacht Club in Annapolis on Saturday from 6-11 p.m. Enjoy a special evening that features all of the best elements of a boaters’ party, including live music, delicious food and beverages, a Raffle Extraordinare!, and a unique auction of special items for boaters and adventurers. The party takes place outside and under tents on the club’s grounds.

brIf you’re a foodie, head to the 9th Annual Taste of Kent Narrows on Saturday from noon-5p.m. at the Chesapeake Heritage & Visitor’s Center in Chester for a spectacular culinary experience. This special event showcases the cuisine of many of the area’s finest restaurants and also features live music, exhibits, children’s activities, and much more. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, so you can enjoy the entertainment.
brTickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Children ages 8 and under are free with a paying adult. Advance tickets are available online until Friday at 11 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Kent Narrows Development Foundation. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to sample some the area’s tastiest dishes.

Largest Collection of Multihulls and Catamarans Anywhere in the World – Everything from cruising sailboats to kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes is displayed.- brOn-Land Exhibitors – The latest in navigational equipment and a wide selection of marine equipment, high-tech electronics, boating accessories, rigging, clothing, and gear are featuredbras well as related services, such as sailing lessons, rentals, insurance firms, and lending institutions.
- brPremier Launch Party – Celebrate opening night with a star-studded cast from the sailing industry during a fun-filled evening of island music, delicious food, and cocktails.
NEW THIS YEAR:
Brokerage Cove – For the first time in 45 years, the show displays previously owned sailboats in St. Mary’s Cove. This “show within a show” features used boats in a floating marina, which are presented by regional boat brokers and available for immediate sale.
Exciting High Performance Racing Section – The show features a new high-performance racing section.
