The popular makeup trends of the ‘20s included smokey eye, rose-colored blush or rouge, and dark shades of red and pink lipstick. Short bobs were the popular haircut, often styled in Marcel or finger waves. If you don’t have short hair, no worries! There are plenty of ways you can put your own modern twist on classic 1920s hairdos.

For the guys, it’s all about class and sophistication. In the 1920s, men were introducing lighter and brighter colors into their wardrobe. Pinstripe or plaid three-piece suits were very popular, as well as striped dress shirts in a variety of colors (including tan, green, blue, lilac, and peach). In the summer, white or ivory suits were common, as well as white trousers and a navy blue blazer.

Complete the look with a two-tone art deco oxford shoe, suspenders, and a snazzy striped or polka dot bowtie. And, don’t forget the must-have 1920s men’s accessory: a hat. Popular styles included felt fedoras with wide brims, homburgs, and a classic straw boater or skimmer hat in the summer.
