A big thanks goes out to the three ladies below, Katherine, Bridesmaid Jenny H., and Laura, for putting together the shower. Laura went above and beyond, hosting the shower along with her mother. The four of us all used to work at the newspaper in Salisbury, Md., but Laura is the only one who still works there! They put together a southwest-themed/red & black shower in Ocean Pines on the Eastern Shore.

They made a lot of delicious food, including four types of quiche. Yup, FOUR! My favorite was the crab quich, which was just to die for. Katherine made the two dishes you see below, a southwest cheesecake and a Tex-Mex pizza, along with chips and salsa.

Jenny made a strawberry-spinach salad, which was just delicious (and was completely devoured). Not shown are the yummy pitchers of sangria and white wine spritzer we enjoyed.
There were approximately 12 guests at this shower, made up of friends from the Shore and my fiance's family. It was great to see them because I don't get to visit with all of them very often now that he and I live near Annapolis.
We played a quick game, and then it was time for gifts -- and how spoiled I was! Below, I'm opening a set of dishes that my mother-in-law gave me. I love these dishes!
I was even more excited when I opened my next gift and my fiance's aunt and cousin had purchased the second set of dishes -- so now I have a full 8 place settings. Can you see how excited I am?
I got a lot of wonderful other presents, too, and I'm so thankful! Now, I really need to get working on those thank-you notes!

Next up -- on Friday, I fly to Arizona for a idal shower on Sunday hosted by my aunt and mother. I'm very excited!
