Reflections on Pine
Eastern Shore Network for Change (ESNC) is hosting “Reflections On Pine 2019: Strength of Our Past, Hope for Our Future” on Feb. 9 and 10. In honor of ^'Gloria Richardson Day^' declared by Governor Larry Hogan at their Black History celebration in 2017, ESNC will be facilitating two days of events on February 9 and 10.
To continue with their initiative ^'The Year of Reading,^' they will be hosting book talks with Dr. Kate Larson and Joseph Fitzgerald, Ph.D. on Feb. 9 from 10am to 12:30pm at Bethel AME Church, 623 Pine St., Cambridge, MD. Dr. Kate Clifford Larson is author of “Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman, Portrait of an American Hero,” and Joseph Fitzgerald is author of the “The Struggle is Eternal: Gloria Richardson and Black Liberation,” his newly released biography of Gloria Richardson Dandridge. The book discussion is free.
Later on Feb. 9, there will be the annual Gloria Richardson Dandridge Luncheon from 1 to 3:30pm. ESNC will honor 10 Cambridge, Maryland citizens with its annual Gloria Richardson Award. This award recognizes people in our community who possesses a strong vision for a better world, bold leadership, and a refusal to accept the status quo. The event will take place at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church at 623 Pine Street. On February 10, the ESNC invites all to join for morning worship at historic Bethel AME Church, founded in 1847. Pastor Randolph Fitchett Jr. will be delivering a powerful message. On the afternoon of February 10, the keynote speaker will be the Honorable Elijah Cummings, United States Representative for Maryland's 7th Congressional District.
