American Impressionism Exhibition
Wednesday, March 9th through Sunday, April 24th, 12 p.m.-5p.m.
St. John’s College in downtown Annapolis, is showcasing various paintings from artists' colonies that played important roles in the development of American Impressionism. This comprehensive exhibition features the Reading Public Museum’s collection of works by American Impressionists. The exhibition includes 50 oil paintings and nearly 20 works on paper dating from the 1880s through the 1940s. Outstanding landscapes—ranging from snow covered hills to sun filled harbors—seascapes, penetrating portraits, and remarkable still lifes, imbued with rich textures, reveal their interest in capturing effects of light and atmosphere in their work. The exhibition is arranged according to the artists’ colonies that played a critical role in the development of American Impressionism. In addition, American expatriate artists such as Mary Cassatt and John Singer Sargent are examined.
brbrImpressionist painting techniques have been around Annapolis for a long time and are still alive today. The exhibit will have different interpretive programs to help viewers better understand the meaning behind these beautiful pieces and the artists themselves. Scott Schweigert, curator of art and civilization at the Reading Public Museum, will lecture on “American Impressionism through the Lens of the Artists’ Colonies”. There will be a workshop lead by local artist, Abigail McBride, on impressionist palettes and an “Evening in an Artists’ colony” event with food, drinks and live music. Come appreciate the works of the past and learn how to make new pieces yourself!
The exhibition is arranged by artists’ colonies that played a critical role in the development of American Impressionism: Cape Cod, Rockport, New Hope, Taos, and more.

A Pair of Tickets to see Chart-topping Pop Star, Carly Rae Jepsen at Baltimore Soundstagebr
Carly Rae Jepsen, Sunday, March 20th, 7:30 p.m. (All Ages Show)
On the follow-up to her U.S. debut album Kiss-a 2012 release featuring the Grammy Award-nominated, multi-platinum-selling breakout hit "Call Me Maybe"-singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen brings new depth and dimension to her undeniably hooky but heart-driven breed of pop music. With its bright and shimmering layers of melody and texture, E·MO·TION gracefully captures both the joy and risk in following your heart. “A lot of the album’s about me trying to get some power back,” Jepsen says. “I’d recently broken up with someone and moved to New York, so it was a scary new world for me—but at the same time I felt like I was coming into my own.” Kicking off with the slow-burning but epic “Run Away with Me,” her new album, E·MO·TION begins by twisting restless longing into blissed-out escapism (“That song’s about being away from someone for so long and having to make this one weekend together count,” Jepsen explains. “It’s totally romantic and not very real-life, but there’s something kind of magical in that”).
