The purpose of AFT's America's Favorite Farmers Markets™ contest is to raise national awareness about local farmers markets, the role they play in supporting local farms, and the importance of protecting American farmland.

The 2012 contest will begin June 22, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. eastern time and will end at midnight eastern on September 3rd.

In concert with America's Favorite Farmers Markets™ contest, farmers can submit an essay to win the Farmers Market Inspiration Award. The $1,000 prize will be awarded to a farmer showing the greatest dedication to his/market by the Farmers Market Coalition in partnership with Growing for Market magazine and American Farmland Trust.
