Here's how it works: Four teams of two people each will compete in a light-hearted, no-stress cooking contest. Participants will take a tour of the Roundz kitchen and have access to the Roundz pantry and equipment.
r
After the "Mystery Ingredient" is revealed, teams have 90 minutes to prepare and plate a culinary creation. Chef Zachary Pope, Crofton resident and owner of Roundz, will be on hand throughout to offer guidance and suggestions to all teams. After time has expired, Chef Pope will judge entries based on taste, presentation and creativity.
r
"I'm not be looking for high-end fantasy food at this event," Chef Pope said. "I encourage participants to make what they know."
r
Entries from a recent Chef's Challenge included meatloaf, gourmet burgers and pizza. Previous "mystery ingredients" have been ground beef, pasta and chicken.
r
This event is open to children, youth and adults. Children must be partnered with a parent or adult guardian. Teams may ing additional family members to cheer them on, in reasonable numbers. The entry fee is $50 per team. The winning team will receive a gourmet dinner for four from Roundz.
