Patient-focused care from head to toe
Opened in January 2010, the Vein & Wellness Center provides comprehensive treatment for varicose veins, venous disorders, and state-of-the-art cosmetic vein care. The Vein & Wellness Center is dedicated to the philosophy that quality medical care is not just about treating a patient's illness, but it is also about how that treatment is delivered.
Under the leadership of Medical Director Kelly O'Donnell, M.D., the Center was founded on the principle that quality patient care involves creating an individual treatment plan designed to eliminate all of the patient's symptoms while striving to achieve optimal cosmetic results.
Dr. O'Donnell has performed more than 2,000 varicose and spider vein procedures. She is board certified in Phlebology from the American Board of Phlebology, a distinction earned by less than 1 percent of physicians practicing phlebology in the United States.
Dr. O'Donnell earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, completed her internship in general surgery at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, and completed her residency training in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is a registered physician of vascular interpretation (RPVI) and a registered vascular technologist (RVT).

Q: Has there been medical advances in the treatment for spider and varicose veins?
A: Yes. Over the past decade new, more effective, less invasive treatments have been developed. The traditional treatment for vein disorders was a surgical procedure called vein stripping that required a general anesthetic and resulted in a painful recovery period. Today there are a variety of in-office treatments using radiofrequency or laser energy for the elimination of large unsightly veins and sclerotherapy for spider veins. Most patients are treated and can resume normal activity immediately. At the Vein & Wellness Center we oft en combine treatment modalities to provide the most effective symptomatic relief and cosmetic outcome.
