We can't help but daydream about the richness of the right green dress, especially during this awards season when we're seeing pop up on the red carpet.
So we did a little window shopping and compiled a short list of fabulous emerald and mint dresses, each red-carpet worthy whether you're in Hollywood, or the Chesapeake Bay area. After all, we might not have a ticket to the Academy Awards, but it's gala season here at home, and we prefer to cele ate in style.
1. Pleated Sleeveless Gown by Halston Heritage
The pleats on this dress add delicate length, and the deep V in the back (it mimicks the one in the front) is jaw-dropping. Halston suggests sweeping your hair back and pairing the gown with drop earrings for that extra "wow" factor, and who are we to disagree? The dress retails for $495 at department stores like Neiman Marcus, but the closest boutique to carry this line in our area is Hu's Wear on M Street in Washington, D.C. We'd say it's worth the drive. For a more conservative look, check out the similar one-sleeve gown in Halston's Holiday 2012 collection; it's every bit as stunning.
2. Pleated Lace & Mesh Gown by Alex Evenings.
We know, two pleated dresses in a row on one short list? We can't help it. This is one of our favorite dresses right now, probably because it reminds us of the one Kate (Kate, who needs no last name introduction) wore to the London Olympic Gala. Hers was a Jenny Packham, but with it's similar scalloping, cap sleeves, deep V inset, and sheer lace back, this ankle-length emerald dream is lovely. And retailing at just $178, it's a steal. The even better news? The Annapolis Nordstrom carries the line.
3. Lattice Chiffon Gown by Elie Saab
Also royally inspiring, this floor-length number by Elie Saab is making us swoon. Between its plunging illusion neckline, the Italian silky chiffon, and the lattice detailing across the back, it's certainly black tie worthy. Its barely-there train adds drama, and the flowing skirt practically begs for a twirl. We've yet to find this gorgeous gown outside of a Bergdorf or Neiman Marcus, but if you happen upon one, its retailing for $5,990.
4. Umi Lace Sheath Dress by BCBGMAXAZRIA
Stripes, lace, and mint? Looks like we've hit the spring style trifecta. You may be a bit ave to rock a short lace dress on the red carpet, but this is a dress to impress, and is perfect for a local awards party. Thelace detailing is gorgeous, and the stripes are fit to flatter. We're in love. And lucky for us, its available (for $338) at Lord and Taylor.
