Spring doesn't officially arrive yet, but downtown Cam idge is getting a jump on the season this Second Saturday, March 10, with stores staying open late to preview new seasonal merchandise and deliver fabulous deals on a wide range of fashion, accessories, home goods, food, and more.

Cele ating its Grand Opening this weekend, Choptank Cigar Company (402 Race Street) will feature premium tobacco products, cigar tastings, and outdoor seating as well as an indoor smoking lounge.

Second Saturday festivities get under way at 5 pm, with stores generally staying open until at least 8 pm and some until 9 pm. Many stores will be offering snacks and refreshments to shoppers as well.

“It's wonderful to see all of the shops freshly dressed up for Spring and filled with great new merchandise,” said Mari Stanley, executive director of Cam idge Main Street, “And Second Saturday this month will have a little touch o'the green…. Irish green, that is!”

Because it's also the weekend before St Patrick's Day, check out Leakey Pete's Oyster and Wine Bar second annual Paddy in the Alley party! This outdoor event takes place in the alleyway behind Leaky Pete's, 404 Race Street from 2 pm until 6 pm, with an after party inside the restaurant. Look for live music, great food, green beer, local shopping displays, and more. There is a $5 admission fee, a portion of which will be donated to charity.

The art galleries downtown will be showcasing new works as well, with free receptions open to all. This month's exhibits downtown include:

Dorchester Center for the Arts (321 High Street): Tilghman Artists- 2012 plus a special exhibit by Photographer Coty Jones. The exhibit will feature the work of artists living and working on Tilghman Island and will include oil paintings, carved wooden bowls, photographs, and more. Reception is from 6-8 pm, with free refreshments and live music.
Joy Staniforth's Joie de Vivre Gallery (410 Race Street): Meet-the Artists' cheese and wine reception from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, featuring work by Carolyn Brownley of the Old School, with music on the mandolin by Jonathan Rudie. Visit Joy's new Race Street Gallery: a showcase of sample works from more than 20 artists. The Second Floor Studios at Joie de Vivre will also be open Saturday evening.
Main Street Gallery (413 Muir Street): "Paint It!", an exhibition of the bold and energetic work of Swiss-born artist Anita Peghini-Raber. There will also be a raffle of Main Street Gallery's member artist's work. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Danny Doughty Gallery (437 Race Street) showcases the vi ant works of a nationally known and Cam idge-based folk artist in a stunning gallery space.
