On Saturday, December 3 beginning at 1pm, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) welcomes local author and museum volunteer Don Parks to sign his three books, Chesapeake Splendor, Chesapeake Winds and Tides, and his most recently released book, Chesapeake People.
Retired in 1997 from a career as a lifetime educator, Parks served as principal of Denton Elementary School, and as a supervisor of special education and social studies with the Caroline County Public School system. A St. Michaels resident, Parks is an 11-year museum volunteer and also works as a freelance writer for several regional publications.
His newest book, Chesapeake People is a collection of 10 biographies of people throughout the Chesapeake region, including Captain Ed Farley, of the skipjack H.M. Krentz. All three books are available for purchase at the museum store, located at the entrance of the museum along the St. Michaels harbor. Book sale proceeds benefit the adults and children served by the museum’s educational programs. For more information, call 410-745-4963 or email havefun@cbmm.org.
