"Fables and Fantasy”
Annapolis, MD - McBride Gallery, 215 Main Street, presents “Fables and Fantasy”, a solo show for Russian-American painter, Victor Nizovtsev.
Nizovtsev has a growing reputation as one of the most imaginative painters today. The artist, who was born in Siberia, grew up in Moldova quite poor he says, but “with memories of the most amazing and wonderful childhood.” Why? His grandparents lived in the home and each evening told Victor and his siblings a bedtime story, one they made up from their imagination intermingled with stories handed down over generations.
A classically trained painter who also paints landscape and still life, Victor Nizovstev began painting his memories of those bedtime stories. While painting, he said, “the story begins to evolve on the canvas” as he adds creative ideas his grandparents could not have imagined….a jet engine on the side of a flying bird's nest, with grandma and grandpa inside, contentedly knitting or reading a book.
Victor and his wife now reside in Maryland, and with two young children, who will undoubtedly generate new ideas for his stories on canvas.
