Years teaching at Lighthouse: 2
Currently teaching: Kindergarten Bible, Math, Phonics, Reading, History/Social Studies, Literature, Poetry, Science, Spelling and Grammar
Proudest teaching moments: “When a Kindergarten student becomes a fluent reader, having gone from knowing nothing about reading and then being able to read any beginning reader. I know that they will be able to go very far in life with these reading skills!”
Teaching philosophy: “I want my students through all learning styles to seek truth and gain a broad foundation of knowledge, skills, and abilities in which they can build upon; to retain concepts and facts that help them think deeper and make connections; to acquire the ability to read fluently so they can reach the goals for which they strive.”
Toughest challenge facing educators: “Student attention spans and focus have become very limited over the last decade. I am challenged daily to keep my students focused on learning and understanding; and help them to build longer attention spans for future success in school.”
