Annapolis, MD - Naval Academy Acting Superintendent Rear Adm. Fred Kacher will be relieved by Vice Adm. Yvette Davids in a change of command ceremony at the Naval Academy beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 11th. The ceremony is for invited guests only and is not open to the general public. It will be livestreamed and available to view here.
Kacher, Class of 1990 and a native of Oakton, Va., became the 64th Superintendent in August, 2023. Kacher will head to Yokosuka, Japan to take the reins as commander, United States Seventh Fleet. His bio can be found here.
Davids, Class of 1989 and a native of San Antonio, Texas, will be the 65th superintendent of the Naval Academy and the first woman to fulfill this role. She is a career surface warfare officer whose most recent assignment was Acting Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Acting Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Command. Her extensive background includes commanding USS Curts (FFG 38), USS Bunker Hill (CG 52), and Carrier Strike Group 11. Davids’ bio can be found here.
