Annapolis, MD - Chris Townsend, co-owner and Director of Food and Beverage for Pusser’s Caribbean Grille, announced this week that the iconic Pusser’s brand will be leaving its current Downtown Annapolis location next year in November 2024. After 30 years, the lease agreement between Pusser’s and its landlord, Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, was not renewed by the hotel. Townsend said, “While we are very disappointed by the outcome of our lease negotiations, we certainly look forward to celebrating next year, our last year and our 30th Anniversary, with the Annapolis community!”
Since 1994, Pusser’s Caribbean Grille has operated all food and beverage service for the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. This unique relationship has enabled Pusser’s to hold over 1,000 weddings and events including an average of 50 weddings per year. Many couples first met at the restaurant/dock bar, including Pusser’s employees, and now with families of their own, still return to the restaurant to share in life’s milestones where it all began.
Townsend takes great pride in the Pusser’s employees, stating, “The longevity of Executive Chef, Jim Eriksen, Senior Catering Sales Manager, Hilary Peret, and Accounting/Personnel Manager, Dottie Cover, averaging over 28 years at Pusser’s is indicative of the family atmosphere created over the years. More than a Painkiller and ‘must see’ experience for locals and tourists alike, Pusser’s has been a home base for so many!”
Beyond its downtown location, Pusser’s has also been an integral part of the surrounding Annapolis market. Rarely shying away from an opportunity to help - including charitable fundraisers, cooperation with the Naval Academy, and of course, waterfront boating - Pusser’s is proud to have been a part of the communities of interest which make this town so special. In Chris Townsend’s words, “Pusser’s will forever be a long-time part of the unique fabric of Annapolis, and going forward we hope to develop other possible locations in the area. But, with upwards of 70 events on the books for 2024, we still have a lot of work to do. We want to make sure our 30th year will be a lot of fun and truly a year to remember!”
