Rotary Club of St. Michaels Cele ates 20 Years Supporting Talbot Hospice
For the past 20 years, the Rotary Club of St. Michaels honors their tradition of support for the Talbot Hospice. The individual club members donate supplies that add up to approximately $2,500. Buying the much-needed supplies for Hospice House demonstrates the heart of the club and the value of the care given at Hospice.
CBMM earns coveted Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator
The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum's strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency has earned the non-profit museum a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. This is the second time CBMM has earned this top distinction in the last 18 months.
Since 2002, using objective analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a four-star rating.
2017 Jacki Carter Young People Who Care Award Winners
The goal of the Jacki Carter Young People Who Care Award, sponsored by the Queen Anne’s County Council for Children and Youth, is to recognize young citizens who are and want to be community change-makers and help them in their mission to help others.
This year’s first grant winner is Mason Heath, a junior at Queen Anne’s County High School. Mason’s project is to plan and coordinate a weeklong Vacation Bible School program in July at Boardly Chapel AME Church in Pondtown.
The second grant winner is the other and sister team of Jack (junior) and Grace Sweetak (sophomore), both students at Queen Anne’s County High School. Their project is to test curriculum for educational programs involving water, air, and atmospheric monitoring at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center.
Kent Island's Only Fusion Fitness Studio Now Open
Local owners, Jennifer Wall and Sharon Guaraldo, hosted their grand opening of their business Sculpt Kent Island, Saturday April 1st. The official ribbon cutting ceremony kicked off the event and was followed by live class demos where guests had the opportunity to meet the trainers and experience the exercise program like no other in the area.
This fusion fitness studio will feature group classes for all exercise levels, led by a certified trainer, a young athlete program, and personal training sessions. This studio is set to fit the bill of eaking down stagnant exercise routines and replacing them with high energy, intensity, and fun! They are also excited to announce the addition of a former American Ninja Warrior competitor to their staff.
Easton Students Win National Award at 2017 Junior Theater Festival

Students from Chesapeake Children's Theatre in Easton won a Freddie G Outstanding Ensemble award at the 2017 iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival Atlanta, which happened January 13th, 14th and 15th at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. The students presented selections from Shrek the Musical JR. for iTheatrics resident choreographer Steven G. Kennedy and Director of the Licensing and Broadway marketing director Nick Pramik.
Students Jared Koenig and AnLi Edwards were named to the Junior Theater Festival All-Stars, made up of outstanding performers attending the festival. The All-Stars performed a song during the closing ceremony for all 6,000 festival attendees.
