Festival of Lessons and Carols
January 3rd, 7 to 8:30 p.m.; St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Severna Park
Join us Friday, Jan. 3, at 7p.m. in the Parish Activities Center for the Festival of Lessons and Carols, a service of scripture and song that dates to the late 19th century. In this service, we listen to nine scripture lessons which recount the fall, the promise of a Messiah, the Incarnation, and the Great Commission to preach the Good News. Each lesson is followed by a carol or other song that reflects on the lesson’s message and a brief prayer. Join us for a light holiday reception afterwards.
Helene Benefit - Music is Healing
January 4th, 12 to 4 p.m.; Cult Classic Brewing Company, Stevensville
We will be kicking off the new year in a very special way. Keith Grounds, along with his amazing friends, Callie Burns, Heather Britt, Madisun Bailey, and Joe Esham, are putting on a benefit show for those affected by the recent hurricanes in North Carolina and Florida. Music is healing. Come on out if you can, it would be greatly appreciated.
Maryland Yule Ball Celebration

Come and celebrate the end of the Holiday Season in your finest 16th to 19th century garb! We are excited to announce that we will be back at the elegant Doubletree in Annapolis. There will be plenty of room for dancing in large hoop skirts. As in past years, we will be dressing in historically-inspired holiday attire (anything from Tudor to Victorian and all eras in between).
January 8th, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Captain Avery Museum, Shady Side
Join us on Wednesdays in January and February for engaging presentations followed by catered lunches. Doors open at 11:00 am. Lectures begin at 11:30 am and are followed by a lunch of soup with a side of bread, dessert, and tea or coffee. Celebrating American Sailing Presenter: Gary Jobson
January 9th, 7 p.m.; Annapolis Maritime Museum, Annapolis
Annapolis Hall of Fame sailor, Gary Jobson covered the Olympics for NBC and attended the America’s Cup. Jobson will discuss these events, the future of sailing, and his new book, The Characters of the America’s Cup.
January 10th through 12th; Maryland State Fairgrounds, Timonium
The Chesapeake Bay Boat Show will feature over 30 Maryland boat dealers showcasing new boats and marine equipment, including sport fishing boats, performance boats, ski boats, cruisers, cabin cruisers, and more. The show will also include entertainment, food and beverages, free educational seminars, and plenty of free parking – all in a socially responsible atmosphere. Boats of every size and for every budget will be on display in the over 150,000 square-foot, heated building at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland.
Digital Photography Club of Annapolis Meeting

The speaker for the 13 January 2025 meeting is Christine Milleker, and the topic is "Macro Photography.” This meeting will be at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, 801 Chase Street, Annapolis, MD 20401, room 205, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's Music for Maryland Concert at St. John's College
January 14th, 7 to 8 p.m.; St. John's College, Annapolis
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will present a special Music for Maryland performance to help kick off Session 2025. This finale event completes the BSO's three-year Music for Maryland Tour, which began in 2022 to reach all 24 jurisdictions across the state. The concert will feature surprise appearances by special guests and will be conducted by the BSO's music director, Jonathon Heyward.
