Excitement is just around the corner! The 142nd Maryland State Fair, open for three long weekends this summer: Aug. 24-27; Aug. 31- Sept. 4; and, Sept. 7-10. The Maryland State Fair is a fun and educational destination sure to captivate visitors of all ages. The Maryland State Fair is complete with daily home arts, farm and garden, livestock and horse competitions and exhibits, rides, games, live concerts and entertainment, live Thoroughbred horse racing, fair treats and farm fresh foods, the U-Learn Agriculture Education Zone, The Birthing Center, a museum, and more. Building, Carnival, Livestock/ Horse Show times vary. No admission after 9 PM. After 6 pm anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or over. No other event provides so much food, fun, family entertainment, and education for so little.
August 24th, 4-7 p.m.; Hysteria Brewing, Columbia
Forward Brewing, Crooked Crab Brewing Co., Pherm Brewing Co, and Hysteria Taphouse have joined forces yet again to celebrate the library and your right to read! Each brewery has created an exclusive libation. 20% of all on-site sales during the release events, listed below, will be donated to the library to support enhancements at all 16 branches. Featured Brew is Where the Wild Brews Are, a strawberry sour inspired by the children's book Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
SOFO Free Drive In Movie Night
August 25th, 7-10 p.m.; Bay Ridge Wine & Spirits, Annapolis
Free outdoor movies on the last Friday night of the month at the Bay Ridge Shopping Center in the South Forest Drive Corridor. Movies start at dusk and live music starts an hour and a half prior to the movie. Food and drinks available to purchase from Grumps Cafe. This month's movie is Jaws.

Bob Sima and Shannon Plummer Summer Concert

This weekend is the first of eight weekends of the 47th Annual Maryland Renaissance Festival. This weekend is Children's Weekend. One child aged 7 through 15 is admitted free with each adult ticket purchased. Children 6 and under are always free!
March on Washington 60th Anniversary - Maryland Commemoration
August 26th, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Susan Campbell Park, Annapolis
In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, the Caucus of African American Leaders (CAAL) and partners are planning a two-day event Saturday, August 26, and Sunday, August 27 in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. Saturday’s commemoration activities will include a youth program, a commemorative civil rights mural, a march reenactment, and a formal program just as there was in 1963. Sunday’s commemoration activities will include a health resource fair and worship service. Join as we “Commemorate, Educate, and Activate”, honoring this milestone in history and paving the way for a brighter future!
August 27th; Downtown Annapolis
The Annapolis Ten Mile Run is a 10-mile foot race organized by the Annapolis Striders, Inc., a 1000 member, all volunteer, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, established in 1978, in Annapolis Maryland that promotes physical fitness and mental well-being through distance running. The race is conducted according to the road racing guidelines of the Road Runners Club of America.
