The U.S. Naval Academy is now facing one of its greatest challenges ever: overcoming the challenge of local sea level rise and climate change stressors. Hear about observations of historic flooding events at USNA and the work of the Sea Level Rise Advisory Council, a group formed in 2015 to gather data and forecast future mitigation actions.

Since winning the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition while still a student at the Juilliard School, cellist Zlatomir Fung has vaulted into the elite ranks of international soloists, cultivating “a rich, warm tone, impeccable intonation and thoughtful phrasing” (The Baltimore Sun) that he calls upon in the unusually fluid and sensitive First Cello Concerto by Saint-Saëns. Conductor Ken-David Masur returns with Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony—a poignant meditation on fate—along with a touching tribute by the dean of living Japanese composers.

March 8th and 9th; McMullen Ice Arena, Annapolis
On March 8-9, Navy Youth Hockey Association will host its seventh “Hockey for Heroes” -- a 24-hour, charity ice hockey tournament to raise money for disabled veterans service organizations. The event will be held at the United States Naval Academy McMullen Ice Arena in Annapolis. Since the event’s inception in 2014, Navy Youth Hockey has raised nearly $500,000 for America’s heroes. From 6 p.m. Friday night, to 6 p.m. Saturday evening, 42 teams will play one-hour games. The teams will include the USA Warriors Sled and Standing teams, a United States Naval Academy Alumni team, Navy and Army Youth Hockey teams, regional youth hockey teams, and adult league teams. Every game will feature a ceremonial puck drop by a veteran.

Interlude Spring Concert 2024: ensemble/132 offers a "fresh approach to music that is second to none!" says Herbert Greenberg, faculty chair, Peabody Institute. This piano quintet will delight the audience with a one-of-a-kind chamber music experience. Artists are pianist Sahun Sam Hong, violinists, Abi Fayette and Stephanie Zyzak, violist, Luther Warren, and cellist, Zachary Mowitz. Chesapeake Chamber Music patrons will remember Sahun Sam Hong and Zachary Mowitz as members of the Trio St. Bernard, the 2018 Lerman Gold Prize winner of the Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition.
Adapting to Rising Sea Levels on our Eastern Shore Panel Discussion

Mike Roman, former Horn Point Lab Director, will moderate a discussion with a panel of local experts at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum aimed at understanding the efforts underway in Easton, Oxford, St. Michaels and Cambridge.
