Saturday, March 24th marks the seventh year for the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department’s Wine Pairing to raise funds for its voluntary delivery of emergency services. The focus is great food paired with a perfect complimentary wine.
Fire Department Chairman of the Board, Francis Roudiez is working hard with fellow volunteers and has already lined up restaurants and caterers such as The Narrows, Rustico Restaurant, Café Sado, Rams Head Shore House, Love Point Deli, It’s the Pitts, Peace of Cake, Chesapeake Chocolates and Fisherman’s Inn and Fisherman’s Crab Deck. The dishes will include everything from sushi to pit beef, from shrimp and crab uschetta to spinach salad with goat cheese, figs and nuts as well as wild mushroom and crab risotto. Your evening will end with assorted pastries and chocolates accompanied by dessert wines.
Silent Auction items are accumulating to tempt the adventurous. So far, there is a resort stay in Belize, a day on the bay on a 42 foot trawler, a Raven’s area rug, Orioles opening day tickets and parking pass just to name a few. Paula’s Fine Jewelry has also donated a unique piece of jewelry and those who want to see the area from above will be able to bid on a plane ride out of the Bay Bridge Airport.
Three key players that have not changed are the Title Sponsors and Wine Glass Sponsor. Bank Presidents Tommy Rhodes with Queenstown Bank of Maryland and Win Trice of CNB, have both stepped up to sponsor the event again this year. Likewise, Bayside Physical Therapy has agreed to sponsor the wine glasses again and the first 200 through the door will benefit from that sponsorship!
Tickets to the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department's Wine Pairing Extravaganza are $75 in advance and $80 at the door. They are for sale at Baker’s Liquors, Western Tire & Auto and Love Point Deli, Wine & Spirits; all on Kent Island. The event will be held on Saturday, March 24th from 7 to 10 PM at 1610 Main Street in Chester. For more information or to place a reservation, please call Sandra Early at 410-643-6288.
