Wyatt and Diane locked eyes at a bar in San Diego. New to town, Diane concluded that Wyatt, a down-to-earth surfer, would make the perfect tour guide. Six years later, they switched roles, with Diane as host to her hometown wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. “We loved the idea of our celebration being an opportunity to show off Annapolis to our West Coast guests,” Diane says.
THE GOWN
“My indecisive self tried on many potential wedding dresses. By the time I had my appointment at Jaxon James, I had [decided] that enough was enough,” Diane says. Her first gown of the day was by Netta BenShabu, in a style very similar to an oversized sample gown she had rejected at another boutique. But the difference this time was that the sample gown actually fit. “I just loved the beaded detailing and the nude-blush [hue], and the tulle sleeves with the detailing made it look more unique than a typical strapless gown,” Diane says.

THE SHOES
A previous foot surgery led Diane to prioritize comfort in her shoes. “I was lucky to stumble across a reasonably-priced Australian brand known for its foot support,” she says. Diane’s Bared Footwear finds included a pair of closed-toe ivory heels for the ceremony and a flat with crystal detailing for the reception.

Wyatt wore a black tuxedo, customized on the inside with a hula print lining and his name and wedding date. A black knit bow tie distinguished him from his groomsmen, who sported burnt orange ties to match the bridesmaids’ gowns. “I wanted to commemorate such a monumental day with a timeless look and a touch of flair,” he says.
