The team placed second baseman Danny Espinosa on the 15-day disabled list and plan to rehab him in the minors. They also designated pitchers Henry Rodriguez and Zack Duke for assignment. The team activated right fielder Jayson Werth from the 15-day DL, recalled Anthony Rendon from AAA Syracuse, and selected the contract of pitcher Ian Krol from AA Harrisburg. Thursday, the team placed Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day DL retroactive to June 1 with a mid lat strain and the team recalled reliever Xavier Cedeno from AAA Syracuse. The team also claimed pitcher Tyler Robertson off waivers from the Twins and optioned him to AAA Syracuse. Pitcher Christian Garcia and Ross Detwiler were sent to Syracuse and Potomac on rehab assignments, respectively. This weekend, the team recalled Chris Marrero from Syracuse and optioned Tyler Moore to Syracuse.
The Nats made Dallas Baptist pitcher Jake Johansen their first selection (2nd round, 68th overall) in the 2013 MLB Draft last week. He signed with the team the next day.

rThe Baltimore Ravens had a busy week, visiting the White House on Wednesday to give President Barack Obama a ceremonial Ravens jersey on Wednesday and then holding a ring unveiling ceremony Friday at their training facility in Owings Mills. The Super Bowl rings contain 243 round cut diamonds and weigh 13.4 ounces. On Wednesday, the team also signed nine-year veteran linebacker Darryl Smith, who is the Jacksonville Jaguars leading tackler, and released outside oft-injured linebacker Michael McAdoo. r rr
rThe Washington Redskins will try out veteran wide receiver Donte' Stallworth during this week's three-day minicamp. Stallworth played in 11 games for the Redskins in 2011 and played in one game last year for the New England Patriots. r rr
rThe Washington Wizards are continuing their pre-draft workouts this week. They are expected to host former Georgetown star Otto Porter, Jr. and UNLV forward Anthony Bennett this week, both are candidates for the Wizards selection at No. 3 overall.
