Blue Öyster Cult: Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, Annapolis, October 6th
Blue Öyster Cult (BOC) has been praised for its pioneering work in the hard rock and heavy metal scene. The band’s music frequently incorporates elements of literature and poetry, and is often described as possessing an intellectual, humorous, or provocative quality. Best known for songs like “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” “Godzilla,” and “Burnin’ for You,” BOC is one of the few hard rock/heavy metal bands to earn both mainstream acclaim and success. Blue Öyster Cult will be performing at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on Sunday, October 6th, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $55–80 and can be purchased here.
Ray LaMontagne: Modell Performing Arts Center at The Lyric, Baltimore, October 16th
Singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne first gained national attention following the release of his debut album, Trouble, in 2004. His folk- and blues-inspired songs and his unique, husky, and soulful voice has been compared to the music of Van Morrison, Otis Redding, and Tim Buckley. In support of his most recent album, Part of the Light, LaMontagne announced the Just Passing Through solo acoustic tour. Ray LaMontagne will be performing at the Modell Performing Arts Center at The Lyric on Wednesday, October 16th, 7:30 p.m. Tickets vary in price and can be purchased here.
The Black Keys: The Anthem, D.C., October 16th
Childhood friends Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney formed The Black Keys in 2001, but the rock duo didn’t gain commercial success until 2010 with the release of their sixth studio album, Brothers. The album’s lead single, “Tighten Up,” topped the Alternative Songs chart for 10 weeks, and the band received three Grammy awards for the album. In support of their ninth studio album, Let’s Rock, which was released in June 2019, the band announced a 31-date North American Tour. The Black Keys will be performing at The Anthem on Saturday, October 12th and Wednesday, October 16th, 7 p.m. Tickets are $125–250. Lee Ann Womack: Rams Head On Stage, Annapolis, October 17th
County music singer-songwriter Lee Ann Womack is best known for her 2000 single “I Hope You Dance,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and the Billboard Adult Contemporary chrart. Womack has won five Academy of Country Music Awards, six Country Music Association Awards, a Grammy award, and was named one of CMT’s 40 Greatest Women of Country Music in 2002. Lee Ann Womack will be performing at Rams Head On Stage on Thursday, October 17th, 8 p.m. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased here.
