Starting on September 29th, and lasting through October 2nd, roving packs of artists will meander the streets of historic Annapolis. And, if Plein-Air Easton is any indication, they're going to be super friendly.

Maryland Hall for the Creative arts and the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association will host the 10th annual competition, and will feature a schedule of activities for artists and non-artists alike.

On the 29th and the 1st, painters will be given plenty of time to get some plein air work done. They'll be around from "first light," and some will even take on the challenge of painting by moon light, so you'll have plenty of chances to observe. If you do happen to see any of them as you make your way around town, I'd suggest you stop for a while to watch. It's really something to see. Especially if you're like me, and are somewhat lacking in the painting talent department.

But, if you can't ing yourself to loiter, stop by the Paint Annapolis information booth at Annapolis' Market Square. They'll have maps of the official areas of the city where artists will be working, so you can plan your visit accordingly.

On October 1st from 9 a.m.–noon, Paint Annapolis will feature the Dueling Brushes quick draw event. Artists can create their works around the downtown area, and will then flock to City Dock for judging.

On the 2nd, Maryland Hall will host a Collector's Preview Reception at 2 p.m. at $50 a person. Patrons who purchase Paint Annapolis art during the reception may take the $50 ticket price off of the price of their painting.

At 3 p.m., Paint Annapolis 2011 juror Nicholas Evans-Cato will head to the Hall to give a free lecture. Mr. Evans-Cato is an instructor at the Rhode Island School of Design, and has taught at Princeton, Pratt, and MICA.

Afterwards, from 4–6 p.m., Maryland Hall will host a free public reception for juried and non-juried exhibitions, with the awards ceremony at 5 p.m.

But, don't fret if you're schedule is packed, or if you're going to be out of town. Maryland Hall will have several exhibits featuring Paint Annapolis artwork through October 30th.
