Dr. Cheryl Burgess, a board certified dermatologist, is the founder and medical director of the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. She has over 20 years of experience in clinical and cosmetic dermatology, and her colleagues have voted her Top Doctor for 2010 and previous years. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Georgetown University and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and is currently the director of the only accredited and certified Physician Assistant Fellowship Program for Dermatology in the United States.
Dr. Burgess earned her doctorate of medicine degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in dermatology at Howard University Hospital. She is a Fellow and member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, (AACS). She serves on the Board of Directors for the Women's Dermatologic and Skin of Color Societies.
Dr. Burgess is a nationally and internationally recognized innovator and authority on advanced technologies in noninvasive aesthetic procedures. She has written, lectured and trained physicians extensively on her patented technique of soft tissue enhancement and injectables fillers and neuromodulators injection techniques before annual conferences of the AAD, ASDS, and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). She is also a clinical research investigator, consultant and advisor to Allergan, Inc. (Botox and Juvederm), Sanofi -Aventis (Sculptra), Johnson & Johnson (RoC, Aveeno), Stiefel, Medicis (Restylane and Dysport), Merz, BioForm (Radiesse/Belotero), and BioCosmetic Research Labs (Black Opal Skin Care and Color Cosmetics). She has authored and published articles in numerous scientific peer review journals, to include Dermatologic Surgery, Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic Dermatology, Cutis, and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. She has authored and published a peer review textbook, Cosmetic Dermatology (Springer-Verlag).
