A certified scuba diver at age 16, Dr. Kareiva initially envisioned a career in oceanography. After a two-year enlistment in the US Army to support her educational costs at Florida Institute of Technology, and several career paths along the way, she found herself a graduate of the University of Arizona in the field of Anesthesiology.
The Eastern Shore destination was her husband's suggestion. There has been no looking back. “This designation [Top Docs] is actually a tribute to the excellent group of anesthesiologists that are a part of ‘Tidewater'. Within our group, there is a continuum of experience and knowledge. We can share that information daily. Shore Health Systems on the Eastern Shore offers general and specialist surgeons that would parallel many larger institutions.”
Board Certified in Anesthesiology, Dr Kareiva has served on the Medical Quality Assurance Committee and as Chief of Anesthesiology in the recent past. She resides in Easton with her spouse (Ed), daughter (Carson) and several pets.
