Q: My spouse complains about my snoring, and I am always fatigued when I wake up in the morning. I want to stop snoring and feel better, but I don’t want to wear one of those machines.
A: These symptoms could represent a serious condition called sleep apnea, which could also lead to many other compromising health problems. At the very least, I recommend an evaluation by a sleep specialist and to undergo a sleep study to discover the root of the problem. Ear, nose and throat sleep specialists do sometimes use devices to treat sleep apnea, however, not to worry because snoring and sleep apnea can also be improved and corrected with surgery.
