Respighi's Pines of Rome and the composer's lesser-known but infectiously brilliant gem, Brazilian Impressions, form the centerpiece of this program. This concert also features the works of two powerhouse women composers, including Jennifer Higdon’s Low Brass Concerto, co-commissioned by the BSO. Percussionist Colin Currie returns with a new concerto by Scottish composer Helen Grime. The Thursday, January 31 and Friday, February 1 performances are eligible for the BSO Young and Free program.
