Event price: $6-8
This exhibit will feature approximately 50 works in a variety of media that showcase Romare Bearden’s influence as an artist of social conscience and action. Recognized as one of the most important visual artists of the 20th century, Bearden (1911–1988) countered racial stereotypes with images drawn from history, literature, the Bible, and the free world of his imagination. The exhibition examines how Bearden – an artist, educator, scholar, writer, songwriter, and social activist - agitated for change through his prolific career of creating innovative and creative images.
