The science is clear: the first 1000 days – conception to two years old – are critical in the development of a child’s brain and future.
Neuroscientists have documented that the first 1000 days are a period of unparalleled growth when trillions of brain cell connections are made. Research and clinical experience demonstrate that the earliest relationships and experiences a child has with parents and other caregivers, as well as nutrition, dramatically influences brain development, social-emotional and cognitive skills, and future health and success in school and life.
Dr. Brenda Jones Harden, a nationally-recognized expert, will be our keynote speaker. She will describe how nutrition, experiences, and environment affects a child’s ability to grow, learn and thrive.
Dr. Jones Harden is the Richman Professor for Children & Families at the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Vice President of the Zero to Three Board of Directors.
