The Digital Photography Club of Annapolis (DPCA) invites you to learn from our member, Bill Reichhardt, as he shares how to let go and let your photos direct you.
Most photographers discover how to root their passion only after experimenting and taking risks. Then, there is real life. Our stories and contexts might look different from other sojourners, but at the end of the day, we all often have some things in common. How do I make time to keep shooting? How can I pay the bills and not give up on my passion to photograph? What is my long-term plan with all this, anyway? And, how do I navigate the ever increasingly complexities of the online world?
DPCA member, Bill Reichhardt, has been taking photographs since childhood. Growing up in a CIA family, Bill learned to combine his love of photography with experiencing the many different cultures and natural environments around the world. He eventually settled down in the Washington D.C. area to practice law, and is now fully retired since 2014. Bill will be sharing with us his journey of trying to keep his love for photography alive as he juggled work, family, and the D.C. area traffic. He will also be discussing the unexpected challenges of transitioning from the courtroom and into the mindset of fanning the flame of a lifelong talent full-time. He says he is finding that the lessons he learns from the photographs themselves seem to be directing his path, including the courage to finally launch his own website. In his words, “For me, photography is the art of seeing beyond the obvious and capturing a story or a feeling in moments that will never be repeated. I learn something with every image.”
Bill has been a member of DPCA 2014. His images have been published in Spinsheet Magazine and Chesapeake Bay Magazine. He has exhibited his work at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, Hollingsworth Gallery. Today, he and his wife, Sharon, live in Annapolis and can often been found sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. Visit https://billreichphoto.com.
