Join us for another Mainstay Monday!These eclectic evenings happen every Monday night and are hosted by our own Joe Holt at the piano. Partnering with a special guest. Each week is a unique, one of a kind show. Seating is casual and tables are available (bring your own dinner, if you like) along with a cash bar. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the show starting at 7:00. Our featured guests tonight are Scott Silbert, Amy Shook and Steve Abshire. Mainstay favorites Scott, Steve and ,,Amy join Joe to form a quartet, paying tribute to the collaboration of Stan Getz and the Oscar Peterson Trio, iconic ,,in jazz history. This promises to be among the swingingest of Mainstay Mondays.
Scott Silbert worked as a professional musician for 9 years at Walt Disney World before joining the Navy Band Commodores in 1991 on baritone sax. Scott joined the Navy Band arranging staff in 1999 and was appointed chief ,,arranger in 2002. Now retired, he maintains a busy performing schedule in the greater region and beyond.
Amy Shook is one of the most in-demand acoustic bassists in the mid- Atlantic, coveted for her huge sound and infectious, driving groove. In addition to being a premier performing and recording artist, she is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, composer and music educator. Amy performs exhaustively in the greater region and beyond with several groups, including as co-leader of the all-women powerhouse trio the 3Divas, who have graced our Mainstay Stage.
Steve Abshire was a member of various Navy Bands for 24 years, from 1973 to 1997. Steve landed the position of guitarist/featured soloist with the Commodores, the U.S. Navy',,s premiere jazz ensemble, for 18 of those years until he retired in 1997. He has appeared in concert twice with the ",,,Great Guitars",,,, and has performed in Europe twice at the famed Jazz In Marciac ,,jazz festival in Marciac, France. He continues to perform throughout the region.
