Ingredients
2 Tablespoons instant coffee
1/4 cup hot water
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
4 toffee bars, chopped
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick spray. Combine coffee and hot water and mix until coffee dissolves. Combine butter and chocolate chips in a bowl. Microwave in thirty second increments until fully melted and smooth. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa and baking powder in a dish. Combine coffee mixture, butter mixture, vanilla and eggs in a bowl and whisk until completely mixed. Add coffee mixture to flour mixture and stir until just combined. Stir in toffee. Pour ownie mixture into the baking dish. Sprinkle with additional chopped toffee. Bake for 22 minutes until cooked through. Cool for 30 minutes before slicing. Makes 20 ownies.
