3-4 tablespoons salted caramel
3/4 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
1 1/3 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup boiling water

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a glass baking dish with non-stick spray. Mix cocoa and baking soda in a bowl. Add in 1/3 cup vegetable oil. Add boiling water and stir until mixture thickens. Stir in eggs, sugar and remaining oil and mix until smooth. Add flour, vanilla and salt and blend well. Pour ownie mixture into prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Take the salted caramel and drizzle it on top of the ownie mixture. Use a knife and drag it through the ownies, creating a marbled effect. Bake for 40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely, then slice into bars. Drizzle with additional caramel before serving. Makes 12 to 15 ownies.
